Where do I fit?
I’m having an existential crisis. I don’t know what to do with my life. I don’t even know where to start. Sometimes everything just seems like too much of a challenge when you have to be something, when your focus is to develop yourself as a product instead of an individual. Everyone around us constantly emphasises the need to build a portfolio of impressive and ambitious life experiences, not in order to generate any personal satisfaction or happiness, but rather as advertising. We have become the metaphorical equivalents of goods lined up on shop shelves in a dingy supermarket, all desperately crying out to be bought, flashing our fancy labels with lists of all the things we can achieve if only we are picked, with promises of how we can fulfill customer satisfaction.
I don’t want to be a product. I want to be myself. But it seems the sad truth is that the world doesn’t want YOU. It wants a marketable commodity.
So where do I fit in?
